Biography

General Biography:
Zooey Deschanel was born in Los Angeles on January 17, 1980 to a film-industry family. Her father, Caleb, is a cinematographer/director, and her mother, Mary Jo, is an actress. Zooey graduated from the private college-preparatory Crossroads School in Santa Monica, before attending Northwestern University for one year. She received her breakout role in Almost Famous in 2000, and has emerged as both an indie and a mainstream star in recent years. In 2009, she married indie rock star, Ben Gibbard, the lead singer of Death Cab for Cutie. Next year, she will be starring alongside Natalie Portman and James Franco in the fantasy film, Your Highness.
